BDS in Andhra Pradesh 4+1 Year Course: 4th Year 8 Subjects from 2008-09 Batch

dci indiaThe BDS Internship which has been discussed a lot by the DCI lately, was added to the course that was made a 5-year without internship for the 2007 batch, but from the 2008-09 batch, we would be seeing the same 4-year course with 1 year compulsory paid internship for the students. But for the students of Andhra Pradesh, it is not going to be the semester wise BDS course for 4th year, but they have to go with 8 subjects in 1 year.

As the principals in the various Dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh have officially announced to the students of the 2008-09 batch, there would be 8 subjects they have to appear in the exams for –

  • Oral Medicine & Radiology
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Pedodontics & Pediatric Dentistry
  • Periodontics
  • Public Health Dentistry
  • Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics
  • Orthodontics
  • Prosthodontics

The Public Health Dentistry, also called as the Community Dentistry, is generally for the 3rd year students, but as DCI had made the decision of 5-year course of BDS last year, this subject was included for the 4th year students, so this would be there along with the 7 other subjects which were in the curriculum for 4th year already.
