April 12, 2009 By Dr. Chetan 15 Comments

Root canal treatment is done when there is no chance of tooth to be saved, and the patient doesn’t want it to be extracted although decayed. It is done to kill the vitality of the tooth and then filling it with mechanical components, and placing a cap over it.
The procedure involves the removal of the nervous elements of the tooth which have been infected or decayed already due to microbial action or any physical pressures.

Here is a video that demonstrates the entire root canal procedure in a simple way(Its an animated video to clearly show how the procedure is done), check it out below –

So, does this mean that dentists who don’t practice biological dentistry don’t have any idea what they’re doing? I am to assume, you are saying the very few dentists who practice, as you preach, are amoung the very few who are truley educated? Why aren’t your theories taught in schools? Is it a big secret? A conspiracy, perhaps? Or are you simply in it for the money? Get real. Do you really think we haven’t figured you out?

Dr. Chetan, I don’t think Maureen is commenting on the right post.

In any event, nice video. It recaps the root canal process in a simplified way that the layman can understand.

In the past you would probably lose a tooth if the tooth had a diseased or injured nerve. Today you may save that tooth with a special dental procedure called root canal therapy. Inside each tooth is the pulp which provides nutrients and nerves to the tooth. It runs like a thread down through the root. The pulp tissue dies when the pulp is diseased or injured. If you don’t remove this pulp tissue, your tooth will get infected and you could lose it. The root canal is cleaned and sealed off to protect it after the dentist removes the pulp.
