Swine Flu is increasingly spreading around in India, and more cases are being admitted to hospitals in all parts of the country. And the hospitals for swine flu treatment are trying the best to provide the treatment to every affected case.

Here is the treatment for Swine Flu and instructions for people unaware about it -
Symptomatic treatment -
This treatment is to reduce the symptoms like high temperature, body pains etc. by the use of Paracetamol. This is still not to be administered in excess. As Paracetamol is a multi-acting drug and can produce side-effects. And its usage in kids has to be strictly done under physician’s instructions.

Antivirals -
This is the group of drugs that can help in reducing the symptoms of swine flu, and to relieve the patient, but the virus is not fully killed with these drugs.
Oseltamavir (Tamiflu)
Zanamivir (Relenza)

These drugs reduce the time of your staying ill, reduce all the symptoms, and moreover they reduce the high-risk complications like pneumonia etc.
The Relenza drug comes in form of Inhaler which are similar to the inhalers that asthmatic patients use. The usage of these both drugs directly is not advised and your need to first get tested for Swine Flu. If you are found infected, the dosage is advised by the doctor depending on the severity.
Using these drugs without any medical supervision is very risky.

Antimicrobial drugs -
usually when there is a viral attack in the body, the immunity in body gets reduced and this is the time when you can be more prone to other diseases. One of the most common diseases is Pneumonia caused by strep. pneumonia.
These are given to patients who are severely ill due to Swine Flu, as the extra-flu complications are expected to have occurred in them.

Other tips:
I have read in comments in a few news sites that people are unknowingly giving aspirin tablets in small doses to kids with fever. Aspirin is a strong drug and can cause vomitings and in some higher doses can cause Reye’s syndrome apart from many other side effects.
Don’t take self decisions. Seek advise and medication from any health practitioner. Only they know what dosage, and which drugs are to be given, depending on the severity of the disease.
While being treated, stay away from other for at least a couple days after the symptoms are reduced, and those who are still safe, should wear face masks and check these WHO precautions against Swine Flu infection.

This post is just an explanation to a doubt raised over the usage of Face mask, over normal tissue papers or hankies, for the prevention of Swine Flu. Here are my thoughts -

Face masks are made from micro-pores which can take in-and-out the air for respiration, but most of micro-organisms are stopped from penetrating in. These are what doctors use during surgeries, so you can assume the safety with it. On the other hand, the normal hand-kerchief or tissue papers are safe to some extent, but still are not strong enough to stop every micro-organism to enter the body.

Face masks are easy to wear – This has nothing to do with the disease infection risk, but still you can’t have your hand near the mouth to cover it. Also, the mouth mask has the ear loops and nose tags which can be used without any further help needed.

Hand can get infected on surface – You hold the hanky and again touch some unclean surfaces in your house or hospitals with the same hand. This can increase the risk of h1n1 virus spread, but mouth mask is not usually touched, or needed to touch until you are changing it.

Also, most of the face masks are properly sterilized and there is zero risk when you are using it. On the other hand, the hankies don’t come sterilized, but are just washed which can not clean away any bacteria or H1N1 virus. The virus stays for around 2-8 hours on the surface and can infect the body, so regular changing of the face masks is the best way to keep safe.

However, it still depends on the availability and your house safety levels that you can use a face mask or a hanky to keep yourself safe from Swine Flu. The face mask is totally advised and is available in surgical instruments stores, pharmacies all over.

But still, just wearing face masks isn’t everything. You need to be totally hygienic, try to stay away from crowded areas and don’t go to places with excess pollution in the air. Try to stay away from people who are ill.

Here are some authorized swine flu treatment hospitals in India, and also precautions given by WHO to keep safe from Swine Flu.

World Health Organization had declared Swine Flu as a pandemic disease in June. Pandemic is an epidemic that is geographically widespread; occurring throughout a region or even throughout the world.
And being air-borne, the risk of spread of Swine Flu has increased very much.

Here are a few tips and precautions given by WHO to keep yourself and others safe from Swine Flu H1N1 virus -

Cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissue when coughing or sneezing.

Dispose off used tissues properly immediately after use.

Regularly wash hands with soap and water.

If you have flu-like symptoms, seek medical advice immediately.

If you have flu-like symptoms, keep a distance of at least 1 meter from other people.

If you have flu-like symptoms, stay home from work, school or crowded places.

Avoid hugging, kissing and shaking hands when greeting.

Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

These were the instructions given by WHO, but you can be more safer by usage of face masks, and gloves while touching any ill patient or any unhealthy places. Face masks are available in pharmacies generally, but if out of stock, you should visit any surgical instruments store to find it. Don’t worry about fashion when its matter of health. Wear face masks in any public places where there is excess crowd.

If you are ill, may that be flu-like or not, just try to stay isolated and avoid contact with other people. And contact your doctor and any authorized swine flu treatment hospital as soon as possible.

Also, when you visit any hospital to get tested for swine flu, use mouth mask and gloves and don’t touch any surfaces. Ensure that you are being tested with a new syringe.
More tips will be shared soon.

Fats are always a needed factor in out body. Total fat content in human body is about 27%. They help in increasing nutrient absorption, transmission of nerve impulse, maintaining cell membrane integrity, gain in weight, and also sometimes responsible for certain heart diseases.

Where is fat generally stored?
In men, fat is stored in the middle of the body, in the stomach region, whereas women store fat around their pelvis, thighs and butt regions.

Fats are generally good and bad fats when fatty acids are classifieds.

Bad fats include the Saturated fats and the Trans fats.

Saturated fats - These are the fats which are responsible for raising the total cholestrol level as well as the Low-Density-Lipoprotein cholesterol.
These are found in animal products such as meat, eggs, dairy products and seafood.
Plant products which have saturated fats are coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil, which all contain high content of saturated fats in them.

Trans fats - These are formed when the liquid oils are hydrogenated. Hydrogenation process is done to increase the shelf life of the food. Due to this, trans fatty acids are found in packaged foods, commercially fried foods. Some fried foods include french fries, fast food chains, and other snacks such as microwaved popcorns.

Good fats include the Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats.

Monounsaturated fats - These fats lower the total cholestrol and Low-density-lipoproteins cholesterol. These increase the High-density-lipoproteins, which is the good cholestrol. Foods which contain high amount of monosaturated fats are Nut, canola oil and olive oils.

Polyunsaturated fats - These also lower the total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Sea food such as salmon and fish oil, corn, soy, safflower and sunflower oils are high in polyunsaturated fats. One of the most essential fatty acid “Omega 3″ fatty acids belongs to this polyunsaturated fat group.

When a high blood pressure patient visits a doctor, the most common treatment that is given for that is drugs of some composition that helps in levelling the blood pressure. And the patient is also given various ways of diet control methods by which the regular heart beat and adequate blood pressure is maintained.
But usage of drugs is not always good as they may cause side effects, and also dietary control can lead to hypervitaminosis or also deficiency of vitamins to some extent is some food intake is controlled.
Here are a few ways by which you can very well maintain and control your high blood pressure:

1. Control salt intake – When people can’t think to control their diet or food intake, the best way to control your blood pressure is by decreasing your salt intake. The normal requirement of Salt to an adult human body is 0.5 grams. But about 6 grams of salt is taken all over every day. Higher sodium concentrations may lead to high blood pressure which further leads to heart disease and stroke.

2. Control your weight – Over weight or obesity can lead to cardiac failure and high blood pressure. So the weight of the body has to be controlled to a certain level which depends on the height and age of the body. There are many ways by which you can control your weight by not decreasing your food intake. By always physically active, being bedridden may make you obese very easily.

3. Smoking/Drinking – Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes. They are one of the major factors which lead to heart and kidney diseases through high blood pressure. Drinking more than twice a day can cause high blood pressure. For a heavy drinker, it is difficult to control blood pressure by any means.
Nicotine, a chemical in tobacco of cigarettes causes constriction of blood vessels and lead to higher blood pressure. Direct smokers or second-hand smokers, both have the risk of high blood pressure. Smoking through high blood pressure can lead to lung cancer, bladder cancer and heart disease.

4. Regular work habits – When at home or workplace, some small amount of works can always be good to maintain your blood pressure. According to a research, some lifestyle physical activity can decrease the systolic blood pressure by 10-15 points. Activities like working at the garden, or moving the vacuum cleaner, or other household activities.

5. Exercise and fitness – Being active always helps! Healthy benefits are always seen when you are physically active and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic dancing, walking are the various types of physical exercises. For people aged between 18 and 65, hourly exercise five times a week is enough to maintain good and healthy heart.

Then comes the drugs which are prescribed by the doctors/physicians which can reduce BP, but the 5 above need no advice of doctors, and are very natural methods of controlling BP and saving you from diseases.

Doctors and medical advisers repeatedly been advising people and tobacco addicts to avoid tobacco and its products. As tobacco has a harmful chemical called Nicotine which later results to serious conditions and even cancer, Oral cancer due to tobacco and Lung cancer due to smoking of cigarette. For people like these, i would suggest the best thing as a Vaporizers, which heats the tobacco to a certain temperature, and here the toxic ingredients are lost, and the main plant material remains intact.

In a vaporizer, a temperature of about 180 C at which the material melts and vapor is produced which is less harmful than a normal smoke. The main ingredients that are lost by the process of vaporizing are Tar, Carbon monoxide and Carcinogens. Also the taste of the vaporized product also becomes pleasant and well accepted by people.

So if you can’t avoid it, at least modify it.. its beneficial for you! There are various kinds of vaporizers available in the market, try out any and save your life

Let’s say it’s 6.15 pm and you’re going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.
Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw.

You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!!
